Default connecting throttle cables to the carb

I put new cables on once, and will be doing it again in the spring(taller bars). It was the hardest thing i've done to my HD.
my trouble was at the carb. I fought for a long time to get the cable ends hooked up. Theres got to be an easier way.
If there is, let me know, thanks.

I dont know what to tell you. I have an 89 stock 1200 Sporty and I just rebuilt the carb and It was a breeze to connect them. I am not sure what it is called but I pulled on the spring and the went right on. You do need to have your Carb off. Good luck in the future and I hope you find an easy way. I attached some pics Hope they help.

when I had to reroute the cables on my bar change over, I used tape to hole the lock coller up, had an extra set of hands near by and held the throttle lever up from underneath - cable end slipped right on, then pull off the tape and the lock slipped right over - one of those - worked great the first time - I could see how it could get frustratin - try more beer next time

Thanks molsenice. That helped me a bit even though it not my post. I dont want to have to take my carb off to change the cables. I might change bars but I'll see.

Thanks Penny

I changed my throttle cables a couple months ago. Did not have to take the carb off. Just work with it. I think I used a stat to help hold the cable as I hooked it to the throttle body. Don't forget to lube the new cables and throttle grip sleeve. Tim
