If you want it then do it. If you worried all the time about throwing money away you would never have any fun. [8D]

Default clutch problems

I read somewhere that the MOCO from 04 puts a light clutch in the engine of 883 ...........

so If I buy the Screamin Eagle Kit thats gives me 85 hp ,

could the old clutch works with the new engine ???

Yes, Thats not saying how much abuse your clutch has takin in its lifetime. But under normal circumstances it will be fine.

Buy the kit, that way you get the heads, cylinders, pistons, cases, gaskets, and have a real 1200 when you're finished.

Just buying your cylinders and pistons isn't a true 1200. Just a little fyi. And you can't bore the cases from I believe 07+. They are too thin, you'll bore right through them. Don't believe me, try it.

First learn to ride it as a 883(not being a smarty, just sayin) Once you stop falling down, move up to more power. Forget the expensive screamin eagle kit.

Simply buy a decent pair of pistons/rings and top end gaskets for your year model and have your jugs bored and honed to fit the pistons.

The stock 883 heads will work just fine plus they allow better porting when and if you later decide you want even more power.

I've already got 3 new HD scoots. I just bought a 2010 HD 883 Iron last week expressly to convert to 1250 soon. Zipper's performance assures me the stock 883 heads will give me matching HP with a stock 1200, and will allow even more HP after a little port work.

Trust me, I studied this long and hard before I bought the 883. I can afford a new 1200, but it truely is better to start with an 883 and simply replace gaskets and pistons, then have the jugs torque plate bored and honed to match new pistons.

We had the 1200 swap done on my wife's Iron on delivery, it pulls hard and feels a touch quicker than a buddy of mine's Nightster....if you can afford it, do it

From what I hear 883 heads actually flow better than the 1200 heads... I have also considered this option and if you check out vtwinmfg.com they have a 10:1 and a 10.5:1 kit for way less than the Harley stuff... Part of this is because they use the same heads... Another plus to them is that you can keep the silver motor and be more of a sleeper...

Just a thought...
