I did 800 miles this past April where the temps didn't break 40. Mostly mid to upper 30s. I had my (since replaced) heated gloves stolen and rode home in leather gloves. Not a good time. LoL

I'll ride down to 30ºF, then it's the heated cage for me!

My target used to be 40 degrees for years. As I've gotten older, I have moved it up to 50, and sometimes that's not high enough!

32F is my limit. Mostly because I'd be worried about ice. I really like cold weather riding, actually

Not sure what my limit is actually. It all depends on the windchill factor for me in the winter. I've ridden behind the windshield with freeze out liners underneath thermals underneath jeans, underneath chaps before when the cage was in the shop. I had freeze out lined socks and gloves as well. I imagine with a windshield and lowers I could ride even colder. I prefer to gear up so the cooler the better.

Went out today for a short one hour ride... and it was freeking snowing!!!

Website said it was 3C (37F).

I was ridding in the city so lots of stops and not much high speeds. But it was cold. Don't have any electric gloves or anything. I would not have lasted on a real ride with some speeds, my hands were freezing!

My standard is at least 20 and clear roads. I ride every winter. It is not to prove anything but to simply ride. Also, to keep my wife from wondering why I have 12 bikes.

With heated gear I have never had an uncomfortable ride. Except last winter when the fuse blew for the heated gloves and I was still an hour from home. Cold hands really sting. Always carry spares now.

This is last winters ride.

I always back the low speed needle out one full turn when the temps get low, eliminates most of the farting through carb.. After three winters of playing cool man I have decided 35 is my bottom # and that is with heated gloves. My full face helmet fogging inside is a big problem the colder it gets and I have tried everything, raising the visor a little helps but then face freezes. I live in a river valley which probably contributes to the problem.

Default It doesen't.

I have ridden below zero a couple times (kawasaki klr 650) and although it wasn't fun- it obviously didn't kill me. The coldest I have ridden my sportster so far was 9 degrees, and it did pretty well other than idling high in an attempt to keep itself warm. I actually broke down and bought some decent cold weather gear this year, so I am actually looking forward to seeing how it does.

After a ton of riding I've settled on 50-55 is too cold for me. That's about the temperature that no matter how much clothing I put on, wind finds its way into my clothes and makes something cold. I love to ride, but I can't love it if all I'm thinking about is how cold it is. Good on you for riding in the 20s. I've done it a few times because I had to. Not one of my fondest memories haha.

I once had an instructor tell me that 60 miles and hour at 60degrees for 60 minutes is the equivalent of driving in 45 degree weather. Couldn't tell you if its true, but it feels like it haha.
