Big New Biker - Sportster 883

Me too
Picked up an 08 883low a few years ago. Got fitted at the dealer and put forward controls on with a Sundowner seat - 2 up. Felt great when shopping but I "outgrew" it within a year. I'm only 5'10' - 190 lbs. These big bikes sure have a way of getting smaller with familiarity. You'll probably find any of the mid control bikes confining and at the very least will want a forward control if not a larger frame. The Dynas and Soft Tails would probably offer you a greater range of mods to fit your needs being over 6' tall.
GO TO A DEALER AND TRY OUT EVERYTHING! - to much money to take a chance over!
IN ANY CASE WELCOME ABOARD!!

Sit on one and try it out. Odds are you'd be more comfortable with forward controls than with mids. Also due to your height you may look like a monkey ****ing a football but if you're comfortable that's all that matters. Who gives a **** how you look, have fun and enjoy the ride. Good luck in your search.

Rider size,,,,
I'm 6' tall, 195 Lbs nekkid and I fit my roadster with Mid controls
just fine. I got a buddy about 6' 4" 230 Lbs
he fits with forwards but not mids,,
With Mids upper leg (Thighs) need to be level or knee lower for
any comfort..
We both got 1200's,,same size as 883's
The My bike Is bigger than yer bike means nothin ta me,,
It's no different than guys wanting a Big Pick up truck even tho they never haul a thing.
Take the Macho crap outta the picture AND TEST RIDE,,
Like Jeff said,,an even If ya like the sportster you owe It to your self to ride a Dyna.
The nimble handling of the smaller sportster Is the reason I bought a sportster...
Besides If I wanted a windshield, stereo and floor boards Idd'a bought me a caddilac.

I'm 6' even and 215 lbs riding an XL883C Custom. Mid controls are not that good for me, but I'm fine with the forward controls.
The XL883C is one fine riding scoot. Easy to handle, plenty of power and comfortable for around town trips and occasional interstate rides.
I usually ride solo but my wife is fine with 2 up around town. She weighs about half of what I do.

I'm 6'2'' with a 34'' inseam. I have an 883 that has forward controls, stock bars, and the HD Pillow touring seat (all stuff I bought the bike with) and I have found that it fits me great. I could ride all day as soon as I get a windshield to ease the wind fatigue. It's all about the test ride, you never really know how each bike is. I've ridden softails that have felt more uncomfortable than my own bike.
