Default 95 sporty tire widths - going nutz here... HELP!

i recently ordered a 140/90 metzeler for my 95 xlh 1200... the thing is narrower than the stock 130 dunlop... don't like it at all... trying to find out the widest metzeler or avon i can put both in front and rear of my bike without any major mods... i recently viewed a 150 metz instalation on a 95 sporty, but the guy added a spacer from vulcan... looks interesting but ti'm trying to avoid going there... also i have no idea how wide i can go on the front wheel without rubbing with the fender... i try to get specific tire measurements online, but they all seem to vary... i live in panama so it's hard to get good tires - i have to order everything and it suck when i get something i wasn't expecting... CAN ANYBODY HELP? THANX!

Default RE: 95 sporty tire widths - going nutz here... HELP!

I stuck a 150 Dunlop on my 97 but it was very close to the belt.

Metz's tend to run narrower than most other brands of the same size which is sorta crappy because they are such great tires.

You may be able to space the rear pulley out depending on how much room you have on the front pulley. Pullt he pulley cover off and see where the belt is sitting on the front pulley. If you have some room to move the belt out, just measure that amount and space the rear pulley out a bit to make room for a little more tire.

This is all theory as I haven't done this to a Sporty, but I don't forsee any issues with it. The rear pulley pretty much tells the belt where to go and so long as the rear isn't spaced too far out and your axle is adjusted straight you should be good.
