Are Sportsters Crap Or What

RE: Are Sportsters Crap Or What
Whilea sixth gear might be nice, I don't think there's anything wrong with the Sportster design. Has anyone considered the possibility that he might have something wrong with his bike? Motor mount issues, bad shock, or other cause for vibration?
Assuming your not a total wuss, if you think there is a problem with your bike - go get it checked out.
P.S. Look at your signature - it's "Sportster".

I put good grips and mini footboards on mine and I do not have bad vibration. I also put a Mustang seat on it. Comfy! I go at least 70mph on freeway with no problems. My old Hondas and Suzukis beat me up a heck of a lot more than my Harley does! The gearing is just better so the engine is hardly working at road speed. On the other hand, my jap bikes were screamin' at road speed and THAT wears on ya!
Ya just can't beat a Harley!

I've had lot of bikes over the years, including some Harleys.
Anyone who says their Sportster doesn't vibrate, either has been drinking the "Harley" Kool-Aid, OR they have never driven a smoooth bike!! (read Gold Wing)
My "07" 1200 is fairly smooth up to about 58-60 mph, then rattles pretty hard until I get to 70, where the bars smooth out "some" but the buzz increases in the foot pegs considerable. The image in the mirrors is never clear, it's always jumping to some extent.
I also feel the suspension should have been better from the factory, yes you can change it, and that's what Harley is hoping for. You shouldn't have to!
Am I bitching about my Sportster? Not really, I bought it for it's looks and sound, That's where a Harley REALLY shines! I already knew what I was getting, although I admit, I did think the suspension would be a bit better and it would be a bit smoother with the rubber mount motor.
I don't ride it long distances and I don't ride fast, I mostly just cruise around the back roads... It's what I bought my Sportster for and it's always fun to take it out for a ride!
I understand why the OP expected more from his Sportster, what he says is true, it's just that, THAT is NOT what a Sportster is all about, and now he has found that out. Those of us that have bought Harleys in the past, already knew these things.
BTW, the last Harley I owned was an 883 and I REALLY didn't like that bike!
