RE: Seafoam/Techron/generic/Marvel Mystery Oil
I absolutely love Marvel Mystery Oil! I’ve used it in my car, both in the gas and oil, all the time. It’s hard to say that it has done much because I don’t have another car that I used the exact same way to compare it too, but it does well to keep carbon from building up.
We once had an old outboard boar engine that was completely frozen. After soaking the top end in Marvel Mystery Oil for a few weeks, and a little persuasion with a 4x4 and a mallet, it broke free. It’s excellent penetrant oil for rusty things.
I’ve also flooded the intake with it when storing a car for extended periods of time (deployments) and it seemed to prevent corrosion problems that some people had.
The last example of how I used it was with an old Honda rebel. The carb was fouled and just wouldn’t work properly. I put about 10x as mush in the gas as recommended. Ran it for a while and let it sit for a week. The carb worked fine after that.

Hey PIB, if you haven't found it yet, it's a white can, with Red writing. It will be with all of the other fuel additives and cleaners. And running it through the lawn mower is a great idea. My John Deere loves the stuff. So does myTroyBuilt Tiller, weed eater, pressure washer, etc etc etc

Yea thanks Sporty Pig. I looked them up on the web and saw what the can looks like, I'll try and find some whenI go out.
My lawn mower probably would love some. I am very rough on lawn mowers. I usually go through a lawn mower every 2-3 years. I run over sticks and fallen branches with it, rub the blade up against the curb and I never drain the gas out after the last mowing of the summer and theyrarely get a spark plug change.
I was mowing the grass yesterday and it died on me. I cleaned the air filter that was caked with dirt and mud then tried to start it and it started and ran for a few minutes then died and refused to start again. I took the spark plug out and it was coated in carbon. I cleaned it off and put it back in and it still wouldn't start. I put it back in the garage and told my wife it looks like time for another lawn mower. We went out and got my wife and step daughter a tattoo and when we came back I tried starting it again and it was a no go. I spied an old spark plug lying in the garage that was out of an old mower. I tried one last time and put that spark plug in and voila! It started right up.
My lawn mowers hate me and the feeling is mutual.

I'd love to see the science behind that. I know people have talked about removing carbon, etc, etc but how does that work? I think your engine was just like the trans of many people. On their last legs and someone dumps something in it or does a trans service and soon after, it fails and therefore it is the last thing we put in the tank that gets the blame.
