I got this one from NationalCycles, I think it was $89. None of them look great, but at least this one is kind of stealthy.

Is that the "Deflector Screen" model?

I'm riding the same one and doing 2-3 hours as well. I got a HD clip on, full size. They have a shorter one but it was too low. I don't care what it looks like while I'm on this ride. When I get to the destination I'll take it off for around town. I get tired at 60mph into the head wind. It cost too much, but I wanted the clip on, full size. Cheers

I put the HD low profile, light smoke quick detach on the wifes. Looks ok. She gets tired of the wind beating her up on long trips.

+1 for that. I don't thinka shield on a Nightster looks good, but Werbecks shield doesn't look too out of place on it. I have the HD low profile QD shield in light smoke. It's not too low for me because I still like wind in my face, but off my chest. It works for what I use it for and the top edge of thestandard height seems to be right in my line of sight.

artist,
Welcome to the forum! As a new rider, I'd suggest you get used to it without, then you'll know what you want the shield to do for you and what size you want. Some like the full protection of the standard heights and touring shields; some like the Quick Detach Compact low height shields, like me; others like the sport shields; and still others actually find a use for the fly screen! Hell, I've even seen a clear plexiglass full fairing shield for the Sportster! Talk about riding in a bubble! I've ridden with a shield and without...and I'm hopelessly spoiled! I also know what I like and what I don't...and that doesn't always correspond with what OTHER people like and what they don't.

So, I'm going out on a limb, here...the purpose of the shield is for OCCASIONALLY taking longer rides to reduce that "blown off the back of the bike" feeling? Then a smaller shield that's easy on and off might be the ticket. Not too pricey, either. The National Cycle Sport shield looks pretty good for under a $100, then.

Congrats on the bike and welcome!

There is no windshield that looks good on a Nightster... But something like this wouldn't be too hideous...
