Default 1200c dying when stopping or slowing down

This is also posted under the engine/intake section of the forums. I am posting this for my brother who does not have internet access and we are trying to get some solutions on his problem with his bike seeing that the dealer can not find a problem with the bike. He has an 06 1200C with 1800 miles. After riding 10-15 miles, the bike either stalls and dies when coming to a stop or when slowing down from 3rd gear and lower. However, it only does it after the amount of miles ridden. Below that amount of miles or while cold the bike runs fine. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. The bike has been taken in for this problem, but the dealer only checks while the bike is cold or slightly warm, but that is not enough time for the problem to arise and they say there is nothing wrong with it. (fyi- the bike is carb'd).

clean out the carb, your float may be sticking.

CPS: Crank Position Sensor. Ive been thru three of them so far on my 04. There is a way for the dealer to pull up the codes on the speedometer. The sensor is about 55.00, and its a good idea to keep one with you regardless, especially in the summer, they go bad when the bike gets hot. Once hot, and you come to a stop and idel, the bike sputters and pops thru the carb, once above about 3000rpm the bike will run ok. The sensor is below the oil filter, its about the size of a dime and is held in place with one allen screw. About a 10min change out.

Hey thanks for responding. We are thinking it could be the sensor. The dealer allegedly cleaned the carb and float bowl...

Someone else recently posted a similar problem and it turned out to be the coil.

What 66impala said. Definitely the CPS. Happened on my 06 1200c. Exactly as described.
