Default 89 sportster charging issues

Just got my sporty back from the shop. Had the voltage regulator changed and some other things done. I had it on the trickle charger and the bike fired right over but when I came out a couple days later the bike wouldn't start. The battery showed full charge and while running it showed 13 to 14 volts which tells me that the stator is working okay. Also checked the resistance on the voltage regulator and everything looked good. I noticed that the battery dropped from a full charge to 5 volts when the starter ingaged and then back up to its normal 12 volts. Do I have a shitty battery or another issue?

I guess this was first posted in 2008, makes sense.

The first 8 webpage links do not work. Well, one does, but it wants $50 to make an account to watch a video.

Bummer
