I was just wondering what you XL883C owners are getting on the average miles per gallon with varying city/rural driving? Also, is there anything one could install to monitor fuel levels? Swishing the tank works, but if there is a better way to determine aprroximate fuel levels that&nbsp\\;would be nice.

 

No one makes a fuel gauge for a factory sportster tank.&nbsp\\; You could maybe get one if you installed a fatbob style tank w/2 caps, only other options are a couple fittings and some clear fuel line or custom work that'll involve some fabrication.

 

Usually around 150 miles riding two-up its time to fill up. Use your trip odometer to keep track after each fill up.

 

OK. So maybe 40-50mpg for a solo rider?

 

I'm using my trip odometer and have about 117 miles from a full tank and am probably at about a quarter tank left(best guess using visual).

 

Yep...Probally better just depends on your style of riding hitting the throttle, weather condtions, and the roads you ride up or down.

 

have got as good as 57 mpg and as low as 50 when I was really hitting it
topped off with two and a half gallons today after 138 miles of mixed riding

Almost the same results exactly here. Light comes on at around 105 mi, then it takes about 2 gal.

 

On my XL883 just riding local where I may get on the throttle to hear the pipes I get 50-54 mpg. On the open road at 55-60 mph I get 58 mpg.

 

Riding solo,&nbsp\\;somewhat heavy on the throttle I get at least&nbsp\\;50 mpg consistently. I switch to reserve at 180 miles and I'm getting&nbsp\\;concerned about running out&nbsp\\;by 205 miles.
