Harley made 3 or so different generations of the Screamin' Eagle II mufflers, with each new version being slightly quieter, and offering a slightly lower performance potential.

The 'older' performance versions that have the "Not For Road Use" warning stamped on the back of each muffler (as shown below) have a removeable baffel with a single bolt holding them in place.

Not positive but I believe the "newer street legal" Screamin' Eagle II mufflers have a fixed baffel which isn't removeable.

AFAIK both the "old" SE II and the new street legal SE mufflers have removable baffles. I've had both types... The SE II pipes are really pretty damn loud even with the baffles in. The newer ones are quieter, but much better than stock. Baffles on the new ones are held in with 2 torx "safety" bolts, ya need a special, but easily purchased, torx bit to remove 'em.

The older the new ones get, the harder they are to remove. It aint easy but it can be done. The heat fuses them on. It's harder to do then to just take out those fancy tork screws. My friend made a tool consisting of a long hook attached to a slide hammer and popped them out.

Chad, I have a pair of the old SEII slip-ons. Haven't checked to see what they are going for but I am sure we could work out a deal. They have about 3500 miles on em and are setup for easy removal of the baffles.

The ones on my 02 XL had a rivet that had to be drilled out. then I just used a bolt in the same hole.
