Default HD Plant Tour

The Kansas City Harley Plant had it's annual open house this weekend. I went out today and took a tour. I learned (after living about 5 miles from the plant for the last 4 years) that all the sportsters are made there. I thought all this time it was just V-Rods. Nope the sporters was the original. Now, besides the sportster and V-Rod it's Dyna's and the CVO dyna or v-rod.

It was so neat to see all the peices and see the progression of the bike from one end to the other. I've never seen so many tanks in my life.

Unfortunately it started to rain when we went over to the demo ride line. No rides in the rain so we missed out on that I was able to get my HOG event pin tho, so it's all good. Besides one of the local dealers is having test rides next weekend.

Sounds like a pretty cool way to spend an afternoon.

The closest plant to me is about a 6 hour ride in York, PA. One of these day's I'll get there.

Nice.
Me and the OL stopped by the York Plant on Wednesday on our way back from Maine. I felt like a monkey walking a line to look at other monkeys while they worked. It looked like most of the other monkeys wanted to be riding too. But their OLs were happy they were at work and my OL was happy we were taking the tour.
So there we where... A bunch of monkeys -- doing what we had to do.

My next trip is a solo trip to Florida in late October. I don't think I'll do another factory tour. Especially on a sunny, September afternoon.

EDIT: I just realized the OP is probably a chick. My post may sound like a flame on women. Not my intention. Just sharing my experience/thought. Go figure...

Is there a list anywhere of the locations of the plants and tour info?, I travel on business quite a bit and would like to take a tour.
I've done the tour at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green twice and I'd go back again but I'd love to see Harleys being built.

Does anyone have any pics from their tour? I would love to go to York, but my work schedule doesn't give me enough time to go.

The day I toured the KC plant, no cameras were allowed. I assume that is a standard policy throughout the Harley factories.

Most factory tours are camera free, knapsacks, open toe shoes and tank tops too.

I can't believe I missed this again. I missed it last year cause I was taking my MSF class that weekend, and this year I didn't even hear it advertised. Which dealer is doing the demo days next weekend?
