Fat front wheel on 06 custom?
Borrowed this pic. Ok, Kickin around the 16" fat front tire thing. Searched all over and still dont have the answer to the question of whether a Fatboy wheel will bolt up as far as size of axle and whether the front brake rotor will bolt on from my 06 883 Custom. I have seen where some have put the fat wheel on so I know it will fit inbetween the fork tubes with a little help. Just dont know which wheel to look for that will go in without having to mess with the bearings or axle. Have also read about the Metezler M880 120/70h/21 that will fit right on my current wheel. Anyone have pics of this closeup or have compared this tire setup to the fat 16" setup? I like Fatboy wheels and it would match the rear wheel so I wonder what year Fatboy it would have to come from? Thanks Mark

I have never seen a fatboy wheel with tire in between a stock 39MM set-up. Now, I had an 02 Lowrider (with stock 39MM forks) and I put a wide glide conversion kit from Custon Cycle Engineering on and bolted a fatboy wheel up to it. I had to make spacers, but that was it. I think the only thing you need to be aware of is the bearing size (for axle fitment). Im pretty sure the 06 sportys have a one inch axle and the old 16" fatboy wheels have 3/4 axle.

Go do a search over on www.xlforum.net as the wide front tire has been done a couple times over there on narrow and wide glides.
Also 6066er here on HDF has done it on his bik with a wide glide conversion. Personally I'd love to switch to a 19" with 130 on the front and run a wide glide. That would look killer and handle great.
