Question 6,999 MSRP, what should I REALLY pay?

I'm looking to get a 2010 Sportster 883 Low, I see on the website that the MSRP is $6.999. What should I REALLY expect to pay, and what would be fair?

You'd be lucky to just pay list price. Most dealers wont dicker with the price, but you can try to get add ons like example: extended warranty or first service thrown in.

Personally, I'd want to walk out the door with it for around $6500.

Don't listen to any dealer that wants to charge you document fees and delivery fees.

I didn't pay more than MSRP on my last bike and I never will again. There are way too many dealers that are willing to deal for you to feel like you are stuck with one that won't.

Ya you would be lucky to just pay 6,999!! When you get to the dealership that price will probably be more like $8,200! They charge set up fees and freight and tax! But allways do your best to get them to drop the price! They will wheel and deal to a point!

An option for you would be to buy a low mile used sportster. There's lots of them out there and it's a buyers market at this time.

Good used deals are out there; and I just couldn't let this one pass!
I just bought an 09 883L for payoff from a guy who had to sell - $4565.00 - 1100miles on it and in mint condition - that's the low end of NADA blue book.
I'd say keep looking.

I agree with buying used...when I was looking there were a ton of bikes out there that were barely used. I guess people liked the idea of riding but once they got the bike, didn't enjoy it as much as they thought they would.

It's definitely a buyer's market and buying used will save you lots of money and if you're lucky, you may be able to find one with all the bells and whistles already added.

Just take your time and search and also if you have someone who knows bikes, take them along so they can help you inspect it and make sure everything is okay. As for me, I didn't know anyone who knew about bikes so I actually took the bike to the local dealer and had them inspected while we did the financing for the used bike. I still paid what the seller was asking for and he paid the dealership their cut so it worked out great.

Well say the dealer will not come down from the sticker price then you have to factor in your tax, doc fees and maybe set up, unless yu can get them to wave that. Say I bought that bike here the tax would be $ 472.00 then there is always doc fees, I know they are $250.00 for cars here, but bikes I think are less here. I would say the guy that said about $8200 out the door was right give or take a few hundred. Yeah used is always an options, but it sure is nice to get a new bike.

Tell em you'll pay $6,999 plus tax,tag n title,,nothing more,,period.
Remind em It's a 2010 base model.
If they talk set up and dealer fee,,,,
walk.
Then go find a cream puff used one, an 09 with 1800 miles or less for $5,500
Or better yet a 2009 1200 for $6,500
