There are a few minor tweakers, like me. I tried both the forward controls and the adapter to bring them back 2" but couldn't stand them! I couldn't reach the clutch lever unless I leaned back and stretched my toes out, and then had a horrible handlebar reach. I also tried the HD 4" Curved Pullback Risers, but ended up with a vertical speedometer and did not want to relocate it to the side/tank and took them off. Big waste of $$$ and parts in a box in the garage I put on the long stemmed mirrors and installed Vibranators so I can see things in them Other mods are:

HD Detachables Sissy Bar
HD Detachable 18" Windshield
DK Customs 2" Stealth Risers
HD Reduced Reach Solo Seat
HD Fender Edge LED Tail/Brake light

I love the bike now and won't be doing anything else to it. I can visually appreciate what others do/have done to theirs here, but personally prefer a more upright/tighter riding triangle and cannot ride in a reclining/cruiser position.

The solution to that is to use the "old style" speedo-mount. I used
4.5" pullback risers on my OL's Iron and didn't want the vertical speedo,
either, so the old mount works just fine to put the speedo in the correct
position. Here's an old picture.

If you like the Vibranators, you should also try Ricor's Intiminators.
They're awesome!

Hope this helps,

T.

Do you have details on the old style speedo mount? (Part number?) My 2014 is one piece with the clamp.

My OL's '13 was the same (one piece). If you like to read
about different methods of achieving the same results, go
to the "xl forum" and search for Xena Mod and ReddTrigger Mod.

Here's the part numbers I used (sourced from NewcastleHD online)
and you'll need some frame clutch cable mounts, I used black
billet aluminum purchased from ebay....

56115-95
$31.13
HANDLEBAR CLAMP, BLACK

67053-95
$94.19
SPEEDOMETER MTG BRACKET

68513-95A
$12.02
BEZEL, HSG, W/COLORED WAR

I have since replaced the handlebar clamp with a JokerMachine version
(since it mached the Buckshot theme). Pics of hd clamp & JM clamp:

Hope this helps,

T.

Default New Owner

Hey everyone, I just picked up my Iron last week! I come from the dirt bike and jeep worlds so a Harley is a nice change and this one is my first road bike. So far I've only flipped the mirrors and removed the belt guards but I'd just like to thank all of the owners of awesome bikes for giving me tons of mod ideas and for making my wallet much lighter!

Hey Guys,

I'm new to the HD Forums, I live up North in Vancouver, BC... I bought the Iron 883 2 years ago and I've been working on it ever since. I've been riding for a while now and recently hopped off the sport bike scene, I rode a 06 R6 which had me racing on the track but later caught myself doing that in traffic.

I bought the bike completely stock from the dealer in the winter, here's some of the mod's that I've done so far, Keystone handlebars, Speedo, Ignition & Coil relocation, 2 inch tank lift, Vance & Hines exhaust, Heavy breather intake, Spring seat solo setup, Custom mounted sissy bar & Chopped fender... I just ordered a set of Burly Slammer shocks which I can't wait to install.
