**How Many Iron 883 Owners Out There?**
#21
Just bought my 883...Seat question...
Just picked up my 883 Iron 2 weeks ago. Had the SE Stage 1 Air Filter kit installed along with blacked out Rush slip on's, blacked out buckshot heat shields & a Kuryakyn Raptor Sissy Bar. Looks sweet. Will post pics this weekend. Quick question- went to my local HD dealer to have them install a sidekick seat I purchased online which is listed on the HD website as a matching seat for my bike & the dealer said it wouldn't fit. Has anyone heard of this or a way to make it work?

Well, here is mi Iron, picked her up on Feb 14th, present to myself to make up for a crappy 2008. This was posted on the board earlier but since you asked fo Iron pics & mods here it is again. Sorry for the repeat:
Basically all you do is take the mirrors off and swap them - left to right, right to left, there is a bolt that you take off and just mount it back on top.
When you take off the bolts there are little rubber caps on the end of the mirror stalk that covers the threads. Watch for those - very easy to drop and loose. I dropped one and it took about half hour to find in parking lot.
As far as function they work great, now instead of looking at your arm the point of view is basically at your hips so you can definitely see whats behind you.
When you go to tighten the mirrors I suggest turning the bars to make sure the mirrors don't hit the tank. The turn signals look as if they will get in the way but they are mounted on a swivel joint? so you can just push them over to make room.
Also I had to thread the right mirror between the throttle cables to avoid binding anything.
Try the swap, very easy and works great. Just took a little getting used to looking lower to see behind you and it really cleans up the top of the bike. Sorry for rambling on about this but you'll see what I mean.
Pic #3 shows how I ran the stalk between the throttle cables.
Pics 7-9 are the little cap I mentioned, also I'm going to get some black paint or nail polish and color the bolt to hide it since it's shiny.
Last pic is of the forward controls I had installed when I picked mine up.
Next in plans after the daughters wedding are new footpegs, hand grips - the black tribal design.
NHRS 1250cc conversion will definitely be coming later also.
Also tossing around the idea of some sort of pinstriping in orange/silver
