Guys, there is no separate reserve, section, divider, compartment, etc. in the fuel tank.
The petcock pickup tube has 2 fuel holes, one for the normal ON position (upper hole) and one that's used when you switch to the reserve position (lower hole). Once the fuel level drops below the upper hole, you are out of fuel until you switch the valve to Reserve which opens the lower hole.

OK, it's a quick and dirty drawing but it it shows how the reserve works.

apparently the MoCo used different petcocks for different years....mine is small point up = on small point to right (facing petcock) = off and another half turn to right is reserve. so that means small point pointing to left is reserve

Sounds to me like your petcock was replaced with a non MOCO part.

So when you taking that bike out to Maples or Port Jeff ?
Whenever it gets nicer out and I'm not drowning in school work. Spring break is April 6-10 and I'm done mid May. Either one of those when its nice out I'm good.

For what its worth, a little update to this. My reserve works fine, I've used it twice since the mix up. Seems to want me to switch it at around 115-120 miles. TY
