Default Can Anyone "ID" This XL 2004+ Air Filter?

HD Part Number 29044-04, and from what I can gather it's made for a "XL - 04+".

It doesn't mount/fit with the stock 04+ air cleaner, so I would assume it's for the SE AC.

Here are a couple of pictures;

That's the new filter that comes with the SEAC. That's the element that replaced the problem plagued K&N elements they were using. Good flow but not cleanable/rechargable like the K&N's were.

That is the SE A/C and it fits on the SE A/C backplate that should come with the kit. The early ones had problems with pinholes. I can't remember which color it was but one of them had was the fixed version. Either the one with the blue band or the gray band. I think the blue one was the original problem one and the gray was the fix (Be warned that I'm not 100% confident in that answer). However, a further clue is the HD part number. The revised versions had an A and then a B attached to the end of the part number. Since you did not list a A or B after the part number that is the earliest version with the problems.

the blue one was the one with problems. but I don't remember anyone talking about the foam around the filter. the black or gray band doesn't have the foam.

Thanks for the replies...

I double checked the part number, and it is 29044-04 204. It also has stamped on it "Made In USA, Dry Type Element Do Not Oil", and then the HD Bar & Shield below that.

Anyway, if anyone needs this let me know... I don't have any use for it, so no point in hanging on to it.

Shouldn't cost more than a couple dollars to send it to someone, so I'll donate it to 'the cause'.

Looks like a pretty decent filter, and the paper element is kind of interesting as it is reinforced with thin wire wrap. Not a very good picture, but you might be able to see the wire wrap below.

Shouldn't be that much....

I would imagine USPS Priority would only be around $6.00 or so....
