Default Roland Sands vintage bar question

I have the Harley 12" mini apes on my Nightster. I ordered the Roland Sands 12" Vintage bars. Since alll my cables and wires were lengthened for the Harley bars will the Roland Sands go right on?

I'm fixing to bolt mine on this week for final install. I went with 23.5" upper brake hose, +4 on throttles, +10 on clutch(because of extreme bar angle).....All cables from Magnum shielding.

I'll warn you of something very critical........you absolutely MUST modify how they attach at the risers. The stock risers will allow the bars to spin due to shallow knurling on the bars....My simple and effective solution was to use two strips of drywall sanding cloth cut 1" wide and long enuff to circle the bars when clamps installed.

Other than that, the RSD bars look killer and are top quality. They are also easy to wire internally.

Dar Oinker02, Im just about to get teh RSD 12" bars - has the drywall cloth solution stood the test of time or should I just get a new set of risers?

Yes, the drywall sanding cloth has held up well. The bars are super rigid and the bike has been washed many times since install.

New risers won't correct the problem...The problem is the knurling on the bars. The knurling isn't done deeply and sharply enuff to allow the risers to clamp and "bite" into the bar knurling.

facing the same question with mine at the moment. i did exactly what you did, mini apes and black diamond extended cables and just purchased some 14" mini gimps. looking at my bike it looks like i should have 2 extra inches of cable but until i get them i just won't know for sure. if you're staying at the same height you should be ok. i also heard that hockey tape should hold them in place. wrap around once or twice on the clamping area and bolt them on. good luck and post pics when you get them on but i just noticed something, looks like they're already on in your sig pic.

Thats because your ain't chromed.....RSD chromes his after they are knurled....standard HD bars are knurled last and that produces the really sharp and deep knurling need to clamp tighly.

BTW, you got one really hot scoot...I'm jealous
