Default Changing 2014 Stock Air Assembly to 2016+ Stock Assembly

Hello everyone. New member here and decided to hop on the post wagon.

I’m not a fan of the stock oval air cleaners and wanted a fresher, more circular look. Without a tuner, if possible. I actually like the stock air cleaners on the newer Irons and wanted to change stock for stock. Something I’ve never heard someone do. I’d love opinions and feedback. I’m pretty sure the bolt pattern is the same. Possibly the air filter, too. I think there shouldn’t be any issues. Thoughts and comments? Pictures for reference.

Looking at RonniesHD microfiche, yes you can switch it to the round style. The baseplate/covers are all different.
This drawing is the same for '14 as well as '17.

Switch the bike year to something later, like 2017, and you'll see the round cleaner part numbers....

good luck,

T.

Easy 5 minute switch, I have a smooth round black 48 filter on my 07 Nightster.

Did you notice any changes swapping? I’m assuming air intake into the engine is virtually the same so no tune. Diagram in previous comment makes me pretty confident Im gonna’ go for it. Cheap and easy.

Might consider a matte black powder coat on the cover for aesthetics.

The new cover is already black....
So, depending on your definition of cheap, I get the following
figures.....

Parts sourced thru Surdyke https://www.surdyke.com/Search.aspx

29000015A backplate assembly $21.68
29000016 round seal $ 8.86
61300541 cover, black w/label $64.46
-------
$95.00

hth,

T.

If I can figure out a way, I’ll give you mine from my 2019 for the cost of shipping. Not sure if this board has private messaging.

Edit- just saw the pm feature. shoot me a pm and we will work out shipping. I have no use for my take-off.
