Default can I remove stock slipons and wrap the exhaust???

I'm looking for a different look on my bike and I dont have the money for an exhaust right now so I was wondering if I can remove the stock slipons and wrap the rest of the exhaust?
will the bike run ok without the muffler part of the exhaust? or will it cause dammage?
has anyone done this before or am I totally out of my mind for even thinking this?

You take off the slipons and your not gonna have any backpressure. Its gonna be loud and run like a tired old dog. Try it and see for yourself.

thats what I thought but would it not be like running V&H short shots without the baffles?

Like SpursDarkrider said, try it, but I can tell you you will NOT like it. Not only will you lose low end torque, the sound is not as pleasing as you would expect. I wouldn't mind the loudness, but the tone is shrill and raspy.

Slip-ons without baffles at least have some resonant space to accentuate the low rumbling tones.

shortshots are best run with a fuel management system, by themselves they pop on decel and i have been told backfire is a problem. Like mb said no low end torque. That aint my idea of a road bike. Loud aint **** without get up and go.

I'm not worried about the loudness but if it sounds like crap thats another storie,
I am running a PCIII only because my dealer recommended it to me because my stock exhaust has been punched out.

When i was changing my stock slip ons to rush with 2" baffles i started it up after i pulled off the stock exhaust and man did it ever sound like $hit. you might want to reconsider this thought you have and just wait until you get a little cash.

It's true that you can't just take off the mufflers, but that doesn't mean that you can't drill out the baffles...
