I have a 1200S that won't run right on anything but 93. I wish Sunoco 260 was still available.

i buy what they say is the best they got - supposed to be 91.

For my old FX evo, for the sporty, for my XS Yamahas... - all same same - best I can get. I'm partial to Chevron premium, but not fussy. Gasoline is the cheapest stuff we buy for our scooters...

but in the back country alls you can get is crappy regular - so i carry a couple of 1 oz tubes of "rocket-fuel" tucked into a 6 5/8 " long piece of plastic sch 40 conduit and taped closed - so they don't get punctured and leak in the panniers.

good point here

I am at the airport almost daily and I see a lot of old car junkies and amateur race drivers show up to buy the hi-octane AV-gas and occationally buy the jet gas (Kerosene) by accident

there are 2 separate pumps,

1- marked 100LL which stands for 100 octane + low lead (a blue dye is added)
2- Marked Jet-A which is similar to Kerosene or Diesel but filtered & (clear, no color)

obviously the 100LL is the one they are looking for but at a current price of $4.15/gal as of 07/07/2016 in Fargo ND i do not see any point as most ground based vehicles do not need nor benefit from octane levels above 93

93 is the general consensus. I have used it for years and I think it pays off with the additives and better burn than 87.

Poll results at the top of the page confirm that most run 93

When you pound out miles most of the time you can't get picky. Who gives a chit? 100 miles it's ready for another fill up.

Ever been across I/90 east or west to Sturgis? You get what you get! Haha

Generally fill up with 93 then when I get home or before next ride top it off with 110. I like to keep 110 on hand for the car and I just got used to the taste.... err...smell

Just picked up a '97 1200cc.

Manual says "Use a good quality unleaded gasoline. For a carburetor equipped vehicle use at least 87 octane gasoline. For sequential port injected vehicles use at least 91 octane gasoline. Octane rating is usually found on the pump"

So I should just be using 87, no benefit to 89 or 91?
