Default Considering a "Superior" ride

I'm thinking about riding my Sporty around Lake Superior in mid August with the OL, my sister, my Dad and one of his friends. I've never been to that part of the U.S. and Canada and I was wondering what the terrain is like. I'm guessing flat (sorta like the Niagara/Buffalo, NY area but maybe flatter?). Does anybody have any route suggestions or "must see" ideas? I already have a passport.
Thanks

The north shore of MN is great it is highway 61 over 100 miles of great views of the big lake manny stops like split rock light house, goose berry falls and manny others and the lift bridge in Duluth is always a great stop you can watch the big shipping boats come in and out just a few suggestions.

Smile around lake superior

I've done it with a 750 nighthawk 20 some years ago lots of fantastic overviews of the big lake and when your up at thunder bay you can see Isle Royal also the road back then was very smooth, Oh wnen riding across the big mac bridge if you do, try to stay of the grading its a hand full. go on up to the keeweenaw peninsula to copper harbor a covered road for about 15 miles if memory serves me right i'll be up there sometime in july just love that trip get your patch the shows you've made the trip around, have fun!

Very nice. Thanks for the suggestions. It's nice to have some info to work with for further research - not too much research. Gotta have some surprises. The Mighty Mac looks interesting. I know about the metal grates of which you speak. Lots of fun when you're waayyy up in the air. The "ball buster" reference has me wondering if the expansion joints are oversized.
Hell, the OL might like it.
Any other helpful tips are welcome.

I did that same trip back in '71 with a buddy and his family, (see the previous post on squirrels). Took nine days to get around the lake, three days of rain, but it was fantastic!

My wife did that trip last year. She says that the road on the Canadian side was really nice. More elevation changes than she thought. Be prepared for all kinds of weather. She ran into fog and cold rain in July!

A good place to visit is the Witch Tree near Grand Portage.
