Default Newbie needing a little help . . .

Hey guys, just purchased an '04 XL1200R and can't be more happy with the bike.

Two days after I bought it I layed her down in some gravel. Minimal damage but I did tweak the forward control bracket on the clutch side.

I've ordered some new forward control brackets but need to know how much to torque the bolts to when I install them.

Thanks in advance and boy am I glad I found this board

When you pick up the part (and this works for any HD parts)

The parts counter guys can print out the installation instructions and all the torque values for you. Pay attention though because they will use inch lbs and foot lbs on the same page. If it doesn't make sense, re-read it Many have learned the hard way.

Welcome to the forum's from Northern California!!

Welcome to the Forum from Japan !!!

You didn't lay her down you made it your bike.

When your buying new parts also buy a Service Manual and Parts Manual they are well worth the money. Also take a MSF course

Sorry to hear about the gravel.

Locktite is your friend when it comes to foot controls. I believe the medium blue is the best.

Well, now you have a good time to put on some new pegs. :-D
