Default baffle removal

Just bought an 06 883l and its way too quiet. Any tips for removing the baffles from stock exhaust?

Do a search - there's lots of posts on how to do it easily and right. I believe all you need is a 1-1/2" metal hole saw on the end of your drill.

I believe that's the diameter they used when mine were pulled out...

Once the spot welds are broken the muffler/baffle will just slide out from the end of the pipe.

I love the tone, and you are more or less just running straight pipes with a built in crossover pipe to balance out the flow. They have a very nice, deep tone that will 'bark' at you if you get on the throttle.

Here is a little audio/video I made with the stock pipes and the restrictions removed. Keep in mind this was made with an old 1997 Sony digital camera, with a very small little built in mic.

You need to turn the speakers up a little to get an idea of how they really sound.

I was told by dealer it's not good for the engine ..... not enough back pressure and a loss of midrange power. Just my 2 ยข

I just put cycle shack slipons on my 05 sportyand posted a video of before and after on this board look for exhaust video posting. I only put the mufflers on and nothing else I have put almost 1000 miles on in 4 days and am very happy no lose of power and mpg went up 3-5 mpg on highway. I think dealers warn you to rejet just to get that hd(hundred dollar) more like 350.00

My dealer told me that too. I didn't notice any loss of power.
I did change the slow jet because it was running lean, but it was was running lean when I first got it too.

Get some SE IIs and pull the baffles out on those (real easy- just a screw on the underside). I did so on my '06 1200XLC and its louder and has more throat than most big twins.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what's the difference in pulling the baffles/restrictors out of the stock muffers instead of spending additional money for SE mufflers and removing the baffles/restrictors from them?

It only took 15 to 20 minutes to remove the baffles/restrictors from the stock system.

The end result is that either way you are going to end up with straight through mufflers without any restrictors in them.
