Randy,

I have posted some links to wiring diagrams over here: ***Dyna Models Wiring Diagram Links Index***. Feel free to use those diagrams to check out the wiring at your bike .

Could it be one of the connector pins inside the odometer housing is bent?

This happend to me when I replaced the stockhandlebarclamp/speedo bracket for a chrome one............

We have had a hard time keeping those pins straight, even, and inserted. It is just a bad type of connection. We just can't find what's wrong yet. He has been too busy this week at the car lot/garage to do much to mine. I will check out the diagrams and see how things look. Thank you very much for your time in preparing that link.

Are the Dyna wiring harnesses the same in regard to the speedo? I didn't see any Sportster diagrams there, but am still looking. Thank you, R D.

From what I've read the Sportster and Dyna speedo's are similar... some forum members use Sportster speedo's on their Dynas in the "plug and play" mode.

Thanx FXD. It looks like the white wire from the sensor is the data wire, and goes to the speedo. My mechanic has backed off of it, I need to go tempt him again, lol. Thanx, R D

Okay, we have a bad buzzing coming from inside the speedo head. The needle will occasionally jump, but otherwise doesn't move. The wiring connector is loose inside the head as well, and since it is a bonded unit, I just don't want to mess with it any longer.

I have elected to replace the head. Can anyone recommend a good dealer who sells these at a reasonable price, and what is a reasonable price? Please list any possible suppliers in this thread, or via pm. I hate to buy used electric parts, it is so easy to burn anything electric. Thankx, R Dowdy

Hey, thanks a lot. I found a ton of speedos on E-Bay, some brand new, never used, but which ones will work on a 1999 Sportster? Are all the wire connections the same on the back, with two rows of pins? I know there is usually no return on electric items, so I can't afford to buy a book mark, lol. Thanks for the help. I am so excited to be ont her verge of getting this fixed. It was my late Fathers, and I can have it painted next month. I feel like a kid at Christmas, lol. Thanx again, Randy D.

Harley Speedometer Brand New with reinstated mileage of 30K. Model # 67025-95C. Comes with new speedo, wiring harness and connectors. I believe that it orginally fit a 1995 FXD superglide. However, it should fit several other applications.

Randy,

Unfortunately I do not have access to 1999 Sportster parts info....

I found this item at Ebay:160373470434

It has p/n 67037-98B and should fit '98 - 04 models (see attachments)

Next to that, I have a 2002 Sportster parts diagram which shows a speedo with the trip reset button...is that bthe one you need? See attachment for p/n info!

René
