Example of proper idle speed?
Howdy gang,
(Prepare for stupid question) So one thing I'm worried about is I believe the idle speed is set too low on my 04 XL883. I don't have a tach, so I'm not sure how to judge the proper 950 - 1000 rpm. I know what it sounds like on a small parallel twin, but I figured this might be a bit different because the sound is different. I figured you guys/gals could help me out: do you have a sound clip or some example of what proper idle speed is on a 04 - 06 883? I certainly don't want to harm the engine without giving it enough oil from the pump.
Thanks for your help!

Here is a thread I made so others could hear different types of pipes when trying to make a decision on which pipes to buy....serves the same purpose for you.

I run about 1000rpm when engine is warmed up...I have a tach on my powervision. Not too sure about carb bikes but I would assume they run the similar at idle warmed up.

Similar rpms for idle on carb/efi as well as on the big twins - 950/1000 is almost universal where Harleys are concerned!
