I was thinking the same thing. Living in Kentucky now I have had more than a few people ask what that round thing is under the frame. I've never taken it off because it won't increase the performance and only serves to put more out into the air in terms of emissions.

your smart.
my sporty vents everything into the atmosphere, i can smell the fumes at idle, it sucks. low emmissions are good for the most part, i know the technology exists to make the bike fast and clean, but style dictates most of the parts we see get into production. cant have a buell style muffler, gotta have shorty duals. cant have a large volume flow tuned airbox, have to have a small chrome cover for style.
The cannister removes fuel vapors from the fuel system and doesn't affect performance plus can become a problem if you get a curious CHP looking at your bike esp. at rallies. Chrome it, put a "NOS" sticker on it, and tell everyone it's a nitrous cannister!
Just don't plug the vent hose.If you want to get rid of it for actual shipping costs let me know I will take it off your hands.I will need the year and engine size for future use though.
