I have the exact same issue. Look at the kill switch circuit. when the bike fails to start, keep the kill switch in the on position, cycle the key and see if it starts. That works for me. It's like the circuit is loaded up and cycling the key unloads whatever resistance or charge or whatever it is doing.

My issue was this weekend so I'm glad I found someone else that has seen this. Poor guy must have been using dial up trying to fix an issue.
No problem brother! I am in the old school camp where we get a manual, get a good meter and start chasing wires; by the manual. Not only is if very fun, it is a great learning experience too. LOL, yea, 7 years I had just graduated to one of them phones that actually "open's up". It was amazing.
