Default VH shorts & Stage 1 no Map

The V&H Short shots and the Stage 1 air intake is a very popular combination so this ought to bring a hundred replies.

Got this done but didn't install the HD Race Tuner, PCIII, or any other EFI sytem upgrades. Has anyone else done this, ran the bike for awhile and then bought a Race Tuner or other EFI upgrade?

What was the difference? Was it noticable? How did the bike handle at low speeds before and after?

Without a tuner the bike will be running very lean and you risk damaging the motor. I'm sure someone else will chime in on this but I understand that if you just do pipes no other modifications are needed. Since you have also added the Stage 1 AC, the fuel mixture needs to be made richer. Have you ridden the bike since you have had these parts installed? I would assume you would have quite a bit of popping on decel.

Once again if you change the air filter you need to richen the mixture. Get an EFI tuning device or put the stock air filter back on.

Default doing it

It's actually my wife's ride, and I've convinced her to get the race tuner and dyno special our local HD is doing. She's not thrilled about spending another 600 bucks, but I believe it will help. She's been riding it like this for 11k miles, and no real serious problems. I took it out and was shocked at how rough it rides at lower RPM's. Runs like a scalded dog at 60+ I hope this tuner does the trick or I'm gonna catch hell!
