Default Relocated the speedo on my 2003 XLC (and some other stuff)

...and MAN there is alot of crap packed in the riser covers.

I like the relocated speedo on my Nightster quite a bit so I decided to do it to "Plain Jane" (my winter project bike).

I did it in the exact same manner as I did my Nightster only the speedo bucket on my XLC is chrome (The N's is flat black) and I powdercoated the mount bracket mirror black (The N's is satin black).

I didn't need to do anything to the wiring on the N but the C needed the speed sensor wires shortened & the rest of the wires lengthened.

Here's where I added a couple feet to the wiring.

I got some old school wire loom from Speedway Motors to cover the new wiring. It looks just like my exhaust wrap.

In this pic you can see where I mounted the odometer reset button as well as the mount bracket I made. It's mounted to the front gas tank through bolt and to the coil cover. I like the look of the relocated coil & tank lift but it's not what I'm going for with this one.

And here's how it looks now.

I also relocated the front turn signals (gotta have em here in Indiana).

Powdercoated the a/c cover mirror black.

And changed out the grips. I went with a stock looking (plain jane) grip. Here's a pic of the flashy chrome grips I took off.

And that's it for now. I'll be tinkering around with it the rest of the winter. My fenders & tank are about to go to the painter so the waiting game will begin on those.

Thanks.

I like the clean look of the bars but I'm not sure about where you put the speedo, to each his own though. Did you consider getting rid of the speedo or going with something small/digital? Bikes looking good.

Is that the anniversary bar clamp you are using to hold the light indicator module? i'm still trying to figure out where to put mine, might have to fab something.

The top clamp came that way. I didn't have to mess with the indicator lights except to extend the wires.

Thanks. All that's left to do to the bike is little crap so it's been pretty fun. It's also pretty cool knowing that I can still ride (something) even if I don't get it put back together. Multiple bikes is nice.

Is that the standard tank for that year? What about the gas cap?

I want to remove the brushed aluminum dash panel from my 2007 1200 XLC, and get a more-flush mounting gas cap.

Your bike looks great except for the speedo; please put it back where it's suppose to be and don't use those cheap *** butt connectors on your wiring.

Yeah. Standard tank for that year. All of the seams & welds have been smoothed. It's also easthetically the same tank as my Nightster but with different mounting and no fuel pump provisions.

The gas cap is just a cheapy pop up from Ebay. It was 35 or 40 bucks. It looks really cool. I think you'll need a non-vented cap but either way they're still on Ebay.
