Default Cam position sensor location

Hello all just wondering if someone can describe, or take a picture of where the cam position sensor is located. I have a 2003 1200 sporty, also if there is anyone out there that knows where I can get one @ a reasonable price that would be great too! Thanks

On the 03 the pick-up sensor is under the timing cover, which is on the cam engine case cover. More than likely the cover is riveted on, so you have to drill the rivets out, then there's a secondary cover under that that is held on by 2 screws, remove that and the sensor/timing plate is right under that.

BTW, on this style sensor it's ussually refered to as the timing plate/pick-up sensor. In 04 they switched it to a crank position sensor which mounts on the front of the crankcase under the oil filter. Two completely different styles of sensors, but both essential do the same thing.

www.jirehcycles.com it's an ultima programmable unit. About $100, just bought a few weeks ago...installed in under an hour. It's located on the righ side while sitting on the bike just forward of the brake (if you have mid controls).

I'm really hoping that the ultima kit is the one that I need, but the thing that I'm worried about is on the 2003's they made a couple thousand or so of the bikes w/ different ignition modules. Some have that type of kit, and the fewer amounts of the bikes have the 12 pin. I have the 100th anniversary custom, and I don't know if they put the 12 pin in those bikes. Any info on those? Thanks for the help so far!

Sorry, mines a 98. Are you looking at replacing the the entire module and sensor? You can keep the stock module/connector when you install the new ignition unit.
