03 sportster 1200 wont start
HELLLP,
Any one out there have a clue why a 2003 sportster 1200 wont start .Bike has a good blue spark, fuel to the carb, accelerator pump has a good squirt every twist of the throttle. bike pops out the carb occasionally when I try to start it. Seems like it is fireing at the wrong time. I was told that sportsters didnt have a crank position sensor until 2004.I just got the bike and dont know its history. any ideas? thanks

I think that you may have answered your own question. IF you already have good compression and you are getting gas to the carburetor, the last part of the equation is good spark. You say that you are getting a nice blue spark and that is good but the good spark also needs to be delivered at the proper time. I would start by checking the timing first and then the ignition module but if the bike was running good before this happened, then my best guess would be that the ignition module has died on you and it is time for a new one. Good luck with your problem and ride safe out there.
