This clutch repair is not for those that find changing the oil in the bike to be a challenge!

Energy One Clutches High Performance Extra Plate Kit might be an option also.

i spoke with one of their technical guys yesterday about this. He told me they have an extra plate clutch kit that does not use the double steel drive plate. Unless I am totally misunderstanding, which is a very strong possibility.

The Barnett extra plate kits doesn't use the double spring plate-thats what the extra plate is for. I just ordered it for my 06 1200c. Also had to order a new shell because the old one is tore up from the rivets grinding away in there. $700.00 after including the clutch kit, shell, bearing and gasket. I'll be able to reuse the hub after filing down a few rough spots.

Is it possible if a person had the skills to replace the brass rivets with Steel. I work sheet metal and I could easily change the rivets... Is that the inherent issue? Replacing what 16 rivets should take only like 30 mins max, and then no issues. Of course I would be inclined to apply primer to the rivets before and after installation just to be safe to prevent corrosion. Maybe like preventative maintenance?

The rivets told the two plates but also these spring steel pieces that fit between the plates. I'm not exactly sure what they look like assembled because mine was a mess when I opened it,but it might be possible to drill out the brass ones and replace with steel. You'd have to completely disassemble the clutch pack anyway but if you did it before you had a problem it might work.

Replacing those rivets would be like polishing a turd. Your still going to have a terrible clutch design.

XL50 - I know this isn't about the clutch, but I've been thinking about the Martin bros Two Downs and wondered what you think of em. How loud compared to stock?

Well, seems my clutch has come to that time, cant keep it adjusted, becoming a moving target. As I'm in Israel it will be a challenge to get the kit (any kit) here without undue taxations.

Going for the Energy One Kit http://www.energyoneclutches.com/pro...&cat=21&page=1

Thanks for the write-up very helpful.
