I have a K&N on the stock airbox with a few holes drilled in the front. Do you think switching to a arlen ness big sucker would show a noticeable difference? Planning on going to a 1250 kit soon anyway so was going to buy the stage 2.

Think of your engine as nothing more than a big air pump.
Air is sucked in, mixed with fuel, flows into the combustion chamber to be ignited, and then the spent mixture is pumped out of the exhaust pipes.
If you add a high flow intake more air will be sucked into the engine to be ignited, but then also requires additional fuel to be mixed so you will retain the correct air/fuel mixture.
With more fuel mixture being ingited you will experience more power.
By the same token, if you modify your heads for more air flow and add higher lift/durations cams it will also increase the amount of mixture flowing to the chambers.
But to answer your question; anytime to do anything to increase the amount of mixture flowing into the combustion chamber you will experience an increase in power, as long as you are flowing the correct A/F ratio.
