Default rubber mount sporty thoughts

lemme tell ya what, i hear alot a people rag on the rubber mount sportys, hatein on them, sayin they aren't as much a sporty because they aren't rigid mounted to the frame. hell i even had gotten cought up in this thought thinkin to myself "man i shoulda bought a rigid mount motor"

so this is my reason for lovin my sporty besides the fact that its my sporty, and the reason i think in the future it will be a sought after model.

rubber mounted carbed sportys were only made for 3 years. so i would imagine that would make them popular at some point...kinda like the right side shift sportys.

anyway, that is what i came up with in my mind, alone, in the dark, touching myself and thinking about motorcycles

what are your thoughts on this?

Well I never rode a rigid mount motor Sportster, what is the difference between the two, less viberation at a stand still.

My Sporty was "pre" rubber motor mounts...the bike was not very confortable on longer rides (over 2 hours), it felt like I was holding on to and driving a jack-hammer. My bro-in-law has an '04 with the rubber motor mounts and I think there is a big difference. As I get older, I prefer a little smoother ride...just my $.02

mainly the trap door to get to the tranny, the newer models ya gotta split the case to get to the tranny and the fact that the rubber mounts are alot heaveir...thos are of course the cons

well i can say my first bike was a iron head 74 sporty when i was 17 and to be honest i would take my iron 883 anyday, it was cool then having a old bike to wrench on everyday but now its even more fun to take the money i was spending to keep a bike running and using it to buy supplies to build parts for my bike.

The Rubber mount... just makes for a lil better bike in general i think.. more comfortable and lil more reliable in that its not shaking itself apart at an idle. My uncle had a 01 model, bought new.. kept about 2 years and sold it. To rough he said. so i bought a 04 883 and loved it! Smooth just right for me. Ive since upgraded to a 07 1200 low and love the fuel injection. As far as the old school rigid mounts go. to each there own.. but other then bar hoppers... there not really good for much else! IMO ! :-)

Some just because of the fact they own an older one will say is a better one .. I own a 2001 myself but if had it all to do over again would have kept my 04 .. After got the valve seal bugs out and leaned the original CPS was crap on it among a few other things was the best Sporty ever owned although my 01 is the keeper now not going getting bugs out anymore .. The 2 Bikes own now are all there is gonna be, except maybe a backet case to fool with for a rebuild ..
