My Sportster before and after....... slight change!
Thought I'd post a couple pictures of my Sporty before and after.
Here is a before picture from last fall before I tore it apart. It was a bone stock 2003 1200 Custom with exactly 4,000 miles on it. I picked it up from a friend who bought it brand new and rarely ever rode it. This is the 2nd Sportster I've owned, and I picked it up just for this project.
So I started taking it apart December 2010, and took my time putting it back together.
The main things I did to it was; hardtail the frame adding 6" stretch front to rear, added the 240 rear tire, convert to chain drive with a "sprotor" setup, converted to a wide glide front end, and lowered the whole bike 2". Obviously a bunch of other small stuff too.
The 1200 engine is still stock for now minus the intake and pipes. That might change this winter, but I haven't decided for sure yet.
I did what I could myself, and a friend helped me out a lot. The paint and powdercoating were done by friends of friends.
I've put about 100 miles on it since finished it was a few weeks ago. Would be more but we started getting snow. It is the first rigid bike I've ever riden, and it's a LOT more comfotable than I expected. I'm very happy with it.
