Could they be Cycle Shacks? Here's a pic of their MXL-130SD.

I think you guys are right on the cycle shacks. I haven't heard of them untill today.

I'm gonna try manually restricting the intake a little tomorrow and see if that does the trick.

Thanks for the help.

Those slip ons could be Rush as well. They look just like mine.

Yes, that was the case.

I'm no mechanic but it seems you shouldn't have to adjust the fuel mixture simply by installing a new air filter?? I'd still be interested in knowing if it ran better by re-installing the old filter.

But, like I said, I'm no mechanic.

I would love to install the old air filter but I threw it away when I put the new one on.

I put some new plugs in it last night and put some decent miles on it. The plugs are just way to white so I'm pretty sure it's just running too lean. I'm probably just going to end up buying a PC with the correct to map cause I really don't wanna smoke the ivalves with it running this lean.

Anybody else install similar slip ons w/o a PC and have the same backfiring results?

I found a temporary solution until my power commander comes in.

I wrapped about a six inch piece of duct tape on the back side of the air filter to restrict it a little bit (simulate old filter) and took it for about a 50 mile ride and it worked. Almost all of the backfiring is gone and the hesitation and jerky feeling is also gone.

It's just a temporary fix for a couple of days but it should work for now.
