Default 2009 XR1200 versus the BMW K1200R-Can the XR1200 compete?

Based on the XR1200 vs K1200R Review on the front page (read more here), could the low price and allure of the Harley Davidson brand make the XR1200 competitive with the BMW K1200R in the domestic market, or is the gap in performance just too much for the XR1200 to close simply on heritage and cost?

The BMW R1200R would compare more closely to the HD RX. Air cooled, 2 cylinder less power etc.
The K bike is a whole nother animal with all that power.

+1

The XR and R1200R is more of an “apples to apples” comparison. Plus, the Boxer twin has the benefit of historical legacy and nostalgia.

I do not mean to be overly critical with the above comment.

I do enjoy reading these comparisons and the commentary!

Same old story....The XR is too heavy and has too little power, when compared to the competition.....The XR will sell to people that want a Harley and don't mind making excuses when the talk of performance comes up.

yeah thats a retarded comparo....like comparing a vrod to current jap litre bike, it would get raped from the go .epic fail....now compare XR to reg sportsters and yes you got a sporty bike that fills the niche. It doesn`t have to have a compete against anything else.
