Default What pipes to put on a new forty-eight?

I just got my forty-eight about a month ago, and have been looking around for some new pipes, stock just isn't cutting it for me.

I really like the look of the V&H big radius 2 into 2, but do you guys think black or chrome would look better? I first thought black, but I like all the chrome accents throughout the bike, so maybe chrome would be better?

They have one at the dealership with these on it and it sounds frikin awesome. They also added the screamin eagle race tuner and heavy breather intake, which puts the price tag around $1700!!

So, I'll break it down
1. What pipes do you guys like best on a 1200 sportster?
2. black or chrome on my black forty-eight?
3. Is it really going to cost me $1700 for non-slip-on pipes?

Thanks!

best bet is to buy the pipes and air cleaner you want. take your time installing them. then just get a vance and hines fuelpak or a power commander. it ran me about 900 for vance and hines shortshots, seheavy breather and a fuelpak. easy work. you can do it yourself. stay away from the stealer haa

If I do the work myself, will that void the warranty on my bike?
Thanks

That's $200 more than it cost to do True Duals, SE air cleaner, SERT and a dyno tune on my RK.
I think it's horrid that you have to spend the same amount or more to tune a Sporty as a big twin.
I'm glad I own to old rigid mounts!

Default This is what I did!

screw the fuel tuner, if you plan on modding the motor down the road cam, heads, etc then buy one if not remap works great!
