Cool Forty Eight Tank Swap ???

I like everything about the new Forty Eight except for the tiny fuel tank, (and a few other small things, for example the stock seat, easy fix). I have thought about the possibility of changing out the tank. Does anyone know what tanks or from what models of bike will fit, or where I could find this kind of information? Has anyone done or attempted to do this? If there is a stock tank that will fit, what do you think will look good? Nightster? Custom?..........

The tank is the only reason my wife has not traded her 06 sporty in. I was told by
our dealer that I could make the standard tank on the sporty work, I am it out.

Theoretically all tanks from '07-up (fuel injected) will work. This includes the 4.5g on the Customs and the 3.3g on the standards, Nightster, and Iron.

I don't see why you could not put a 3.3 gal tank form a 07 and up sporty on a 48-don't think the frame is any differant?

I bought a Forty-Eight on 6/13 and I'm having the tank swapped out tomorrow for a larger 3.3 peanut tank.

When I bought the bike I had the dealer order a Nightster tank in vivid black. Since the tank is pre-painted it'll match the fenders and supposedly is a direct bolt on swap.

I'm dropping the bike off on Tuesday afternoon and picking it up the following afternoon so I'll try and snap some pictures on Thursday.

Here's what it'll look like (cut and pasted in Paintbrush)

Just a comment to check the clearance on the mirrors to the new larger tank (to avoid a potential dent)

Yeah, I'll have to check that.

When I get home tonight I'll see how close the mirrors come to the stock tank when the bars are fully cranked to one side.

I'm hoping it won't be an issue.

Ok, it looks like 2" of clearance between the tank and the mirror on the left side.

I don't know what the width is of the larger peanut tank but I'd be surprised if it was 4" wider. If necessary I can rotate the mirror arms forward to give me a little more clearance. I'll mention it to the guys at the shop tomorrow.
