Default Kick start Nightster

I read that one of Willie G's early plans for the Nightster included a kickstart, to go with the whole retro theme, but they axed the idea for cost reasons. I know there are some retro-fit kickstart kits out there, not necessarily for the 1200 Evo though.

I'm just wondering if anyone has done such a mod. I think it would be a really cool old-school feature.

i saw a sporty once that had a 4 speed kicker setup mocked up on it, it had a micro switch inside that worked the electric starter.. i dont think you could put a kickstart on a newer sporty with out remaking the engine cases, primary, clutch basket, sprocket cover, and half of the transmission, the old ones were accualy pretty riged up to make them work

I like the idea of the micro switch thing, now you're gonna have me thinking today.

If anyone ever owned 1969 XLCH they wouldn't want a kick start .. Used to leave mine parked out side the driveway in the morning and after someone kicked it over 15 times trying to steal it, would walk out and say thanks for the warm up ..

I agree that kick start is cool, but if you have ever kick over a high compression engine a few times you would not want to do it all the time.

Agreed, A stomp start might look cool and all that, but let your foot slip off of it at the bottom and have it come back up and tattoo your calf a few times and it won't look so cool anymore. One reason I don't have my Triumph anymore.
