          Just googled sofa accidents:
8- Chairs, sofas and sofa bed accidents

People routinely and repeatedly fall of their chairs and sofas, causing injuries to an estimate of 476,109 people.

I just googled fundamental, basic and essential safety for motor vehicles and bicycles. It showed seat belts and helmets. Crazy.

The more helmet, the better, IMO.

Wow, I got through 30+ pages of this thread and expected to see a bunch of posts saying helmets were dangerous..
New found respect for HD riders after all that reading..

All I own are FF helmets and have a pretty large investment in them (have to retire them every 5 years).
Jacket/Gloves/Boots/Helmet (full leathers on longer rides) when I ride.. (big chicken)

I wear a fullface helmet as I ride in Scotland and bugs in my face takes on a whole new meaning here with an open facer.

Half for bop'n around and full for longer & highways trips. Thinking of buying a hi vis jacket next.

          Very old thread.

With that said I'll now interject my opinions!

I only ride with full face. I've participated in enough extreme sports to know that you can completely destroy yourself at very slow speeds while doing very basic things. Doesn't take much to damage something permanently.

When I see guys riding around with these helmets so tiny they almost look like a yamaka... I just hope they know and have accepted what will happen if they crash. It's their choice, not mine. Saw a guy on a road glide with one of these helmets today that couldn't have had any padding, he was wearing flip flops, shorts, a t-shirt, and his wife was dressed similar. Often you don't see people start wearing full face helmets until after a big crash or something gnarly hits them in the face. I'd rather just be safe to start with. I have no issues with full face. I wear biltwell gringos. They are comfy, don't interfere with my vision, they are DOT approved, good ventilation for me, have a lot of snap and goggle options, and they are retro stylish. I love em, no complaints.

Full Face or no face. A 3/4 helmet is still 1/4 face.

You have a 45.3% chance of being unprotected during a head impact while wearing a 3/4 helmet.

49.3-61.4% chance of being unprotected in a half helmet depending on style. I don't like to live my life by 50/50 chance, I have a really handsome face too.
