Stage 1 or New SE pistons and .536 cams
Are the stock xb heads on a 2004 1200 C adequate for new SE piston and SE .536 cams to see some performance ?

Stock heads aren't adequate for anything but stock use. If you don't do head work don't change cams. Your stock cams with head work and some compression will make close to 90HP.

When you say head work are you talking just stage 1 porting and polishing or stage 2 P & P with larger valves and better springs ?

Cams are useless without head work. I run stage 2 heads myself. But you can get stage 1 through 3.
