Does anyone here use a pre-filter or rain sock on an open air filter? I have a stage 1 Big Sucker and I'm worried about riding in the rain. I've heard that the pre-filters can stop water from getting in, but I would think that something water-proof wouldn't allow air into the filter either. I'm just curious as to how these work and if they're worth the money. I don't see how an open air filter could ever be completely water-proof. Thanks in advance for the input.
I keep the sock on mine all the time, Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather, rode through plenty of HEAVY rain and never had even the smallest of sputter from the motor. As an added plus, it does help keep the filter just a bit cleaner too.
Thanks. I've had a few rainy days, but only rode for 10-15 minutes while the filter was hot, so most of it evaporated anyway. My main concern is possible long term damage to the engine.
