best way to get slight scratches out of paint
Having a vivid black bike, I am reminded how easy it is to see even the slight scratches in the paint. UGH!!
They bug the heck out of me! I'm not sure to this day how I get these slight scratches, as I try to be EXTREMELY careful with the paint, do not wear belts w/ buckles, etc.
My question - what's the best way to get these scratches out of the paint?
Do I just need to get a buffer and some compound or ?
Any suggestions on getting these scratches out would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Rubbing compound, polishing compound, Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #7 Professional Show Car Glaze<-(This is the stuff I use too, just checked, thanks to guitarenigma for the heads up). All found at the local Autozone. Buy MANY microfibre clothes, turn often and do NOT let them get contaminated with dust and particles. So if you drop them on the floor, throw them away. Follow the instructions on each product and if you have a power buffer that would help too. Otherwise, prepare to sweat a little. I re-fin, refurb guitars and the process is the same. If you want it to be showroom again, there is now "miracle" product.
Rubbing compound is the grittiest. This will level the surface across the scratches.
Polish compound will take the haze out that the compound causes in the process.
The Meguiar's mirror glaze will clean and seal the deal. Meguires is the best for black.

Depending on how 'superficial' the scratches are, try Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #7 Professional Show Car Glaze. It's liquid, and nourishes the paint for a wet look like you see on cars in museums. I've been using it for years on my cages. Use it sparingly (otherwise it can get gummy and be a real pain to get off), and buff with a cotton terrycloth towel or a random orbital buffer with a new terrycloth pad.

Thx. Love that "Harley Davidson" style logo and the paint job on your bike RudeDog.
The only thing that scares me in those directions is the sand paper.
I've wet sanded a few cars when I was young (older brother recruited me) so I know that 1500 grit sandpaper is practically smooth, but I was hoping simple compound and buffing (with my drill) would suffice.
These are superficial scratches to the clear coat (very superficial) and some may even pass as simple scuffs.
I will definitely check out the Meguires products (scratchx, etc) as recommended by everyone.
Thanks as usual dudes!
