Default Removal of Front Fender on a Forty-Eight

Hello, do you know if I have to remove the fork brace if I remove the front fender on a Forty-Eight?

Man, front-end wobble blows. I would think it's even worse with a wide-glide front end. If you remove the fender, I would keep the brace. It's just nuts and bolts - remember that!

No, you do not have to remove the brace. It was designed that way for that very reason.

Thanks streetfighter06 and tekdiver500ft! I would like to have it w/o the brace if i remove the fender. Is it because the Forty-Eight's have a fat tire up front that's why they added the fork brace?

You really want the brace. It doesn't look bad, and the handling is tons better with it on.

I want to do the same thing--remove front fender but everyone says leave the brace on. Guess it's good advice. Now the back fender--I want to chop it but have no idea how to go about it. Have to look into that.

I've searched the forum and have come up with no luck. This site has a ton of information on it and I'm looking for some advice from someone more knowledgeable. I am very glad I stumbled upon this forum/community. I have the 2010 Sportster service manual and it does not list how to remove the front fender on my 48. It only shows other XL models and XR models. I assume, I just have to remove the brace (4 bolts) then remove the fender from the brace (4 star bolts) then replace the brace. Can anyone let me know if I'm missing a step or anything I should look out for. Thanks a ton.

18-22 ft lbs when you put your front brace back on. The four bolts attaching the front brace can be removed just as you say. Then remove the four bolts attaching the fender to the brace.
