Default Tacho/speedo connector

Ok me again lol, I've been doing a bit of reading on the tacho wire harness, it seems to be just like the old stock harness but where it joins the speedo the three red pins/blanks (see pic below) on the connector are replaced and it has three new wires which come off it to a tacho plug/socket which the tacho plugs into,*
I'm thinking why can't I lose the tacho plug and just wire it straight into the speedo connector and save £90 on the new tacho wire harness!
I'm not tight just working on a budget :0) anyone have a photo or could take on of this connect on the speedo who has the a tacho? Cheers
