Default Cost of parts!

Is this the same in the USA?
As you may or may not know I'm doing up a crashed 883 iron, been calling Harley for part numbers and costs,
In the uk a new iron costs £6000, with only a handful of parts it costs about one third of this (what a mark up in price)
If I bought every part to build a iron from harley I bet it would cost four to five times the cost of a new one!
Are parts high priced over there too?

There are some dealerships that offer 20% from MSRP. I know somebody here will tell you whats the name but they are based in Chicago.

I have a "membership" in my dealer where I can get 17% to 20% of MSRP.

Your best bet is to come up with a list of all the parts that you will need and then begin to price them here and have them sent to you. Or perhaps a relative of yours can order them and then send them to you.

Good luck,

I get screwed buying online, too. I order a $25 item off eBay shipped from the States to here in Canada, shipping itself is like, $15-20, which I agree with, then I get stuck paying $20-30 in customs just for bringing it over the border. A $25 items ends up costing me $75 sometimes.

****.

Yup, plus the delay due to shipping. What's worse is sometimes you don't even know if you're going to have to pay, so you can't really factor it in when purchasing.

I still remember ordering a pair of DC shoes for $25 and paying $25 shipping and $29 customs.

Yep! And is it the same there? I have had some get past customs without fees (large, expensive item) but small cheap items get stopped and fees slapped on!

it's not just harley,
try any motorcycle or car parts and they cost big £££ .
they make most of there money on spare parts.
were you can use aftermarket and used parts to do the repair.

I've never had customs stop my items coming into Australia, but its dear here too, I bought pipes from ebay US and had shipped here for half cost of buying locally.
